Ready to move every part of your accounting firm to the cloud, right down to client proposals? Sixteen cloud software and accountant consulting companies have banded together to give one brave accounting firm a ground-up redesign in the cloud in a marketing stunt timed for Xero’s user conference next week.
The competition, called Your Cloud Crowd, was pioneered by Guy Pearson, owner of Xero Gold partner Interactive Accounting and CEO of cloud app Practice Ignition, to draw attention to Xero’s add-on partners.
The vendors wanted to show how software and services “could enable you to reach the pinnacle of online accounting, and, most of all provide the best possible client service possible”, Pearson wrote in a blog post.
The 16 vendors helped a firm operate in four areas.
For developing client relationships the competition included business analysis and reporting (Fathom and Spotlight Reporting), HR support and advice (EnableHR) and application set-up and integration by Link Solutions.
Xero has pushed the modern accounting practice concept for several years but accounting firms have been slow to commit to a 100-percent cloud approach. Legacy hardware and software, resistance to change and lingering concern over security were typical reasons for a slower transition.
The Your Cloud Crowd competition marked a growing trend for cloud apps in Xero’s ecosystem to start marketing under their own banners.
