Update: Photos of Amazon’s unnamed and unpriced smartphone was leaked on BGR and would run on Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM. The prototype display will measure 4.7 inches diagonally, smaller than Samsung and HTC. The main rear camera had 13 megapixels and featured 720p HD resolution compared to 1080p HD resolution on many rival devices.
Amazon could release its own smartphone by June with an expected shipping date in September, reported The Wall Street Journal.
The unnamed device could display 3D images without requiring the user to wear special glasses, according to the report. Amazon’s smartphone would incorporate retina-tracking technology “embedded in four front-facing cameras” to achieve a 3D effect, The Verge also reported.
Amazon launched its own app store in 2011 to compete with Google Play and Apple’s App store and had accumulated 200,000 apps.
