BoxFreeIT is running an educational series called the Future of Work, sponsored by Salesforce.com, that breaks down the mechanics of CRM into three components vital to business.
The third component, a relatively new concept to business owners, is the workflow. A workflow is a series of steps required to complete a function in your business. This can be an external process, such as making a sale, or internal, such as processing invoices.
Knowing what is a workflow and how they can improve operations is hugely valuable not just to sales but to every aspect of a business.
Recording the important functions of a business in workflows can reveal inefficiencies or weaknesses in the process. Once the process has been defined, the business owner can experiment with reducing the number of steps to speed up the sales process, or use it to train new staff.
A logical and clear list of steps makes it easier to hold staff accountable.
Every Friday you can read about the latest theories, tips and strategies for optimising your business using workflows in BoxFreeIT’s Future of Work series.
