Almost identical to desktop interface.
Google has added the ability to share documents from Google Docs on the iPad as well as the iPhone and some Android platforms.
An update to the Google Docs mobile interface added the ability to sort, narrow and share multiple docs in the mobile docs list, according to a post on the Google Docs blog.
Previously, iPad users were able to view and edit documents but were not able to share them. Google claimed the mobile interface for Google Docs could share documents in the same manner as the desktop interface.
The updated mobile interface added two drop-down menus to the menu bar in the iPad’s Safari internet browser. The Sort menu listed items by name or in order of last modified or last opened.
The Narrow By menu listed items categorized as “owned by me” or starred and according to document type.
The Narrow By menu also let users sort through their Collections, which are Google’s analogy for folders. A user could drill down through a nest of folders to find a document and move back up the folder tree by clicking the Back button in the browser.
The revised interface also added check boxes beside each document. Ticking a check box turned the Sign Out button in the bottom menu of the screen to a drop-down Share menu.
The Share menu has three options. The first option, “Share”, allowed a user to invite others by name, email address or group, set sharing permissions (edit or view) and include an optional personal message, as per the desktop interface.
The other two options on the Share menu were “Get the link to share” and “Email as an attachment”.
The “Get the link to share” option only worked for public or unlisted documents.
“Email as an attachment” displayed the same options as the desktop browser. For example a user could send a document attached as in HTML, Open Document, PDF, Rich Text (RTF), Plain Text and Microsoft Word formats or paste the item into the email.
The item could be emailed to multiple email recipients with an editable Subject field and Message field and the option to send a copy to the sender.
