Online accounting company Intuit announced a heavily redesigned practice management app for accounting firms called QuickBooks Online Accountant in San Francisco today.
Online Accountant includes a number of productivity improvements such as a customisable client dashboard that can plan an accountant’s to-do list and show bookkeeping and payroll tasks and one-click access to an “accountant’s toolbox” of the seven most-used tools.
Elements of the QuickBooks partner program ProAdvisor are embedded in the Online Accounting app such as in-depth training, certification and listings in a directory for accountants.
Online Accountant includes an advanced billing function that can pass on wholesale pricing to clients, bundle their accounting software and payroll subscriptions, and send the accountant a consolidated bill each month.
Online Accountant has firm roles and permissions which control an employee’s access to specific firms and clients’ books.
The app is designed to work primarily with online accounting program QuickBooks Online but will also work with rival accounting programs. Online Accountant will include a free subscription to QuickBooks Online and payroll for the accounting firm to use itself.
Intuit is running webinars introducing the practice management app. The app will be released in the US in December and to other countries in early next year.
