Adds dashboard, global search and deeper navigation.
Cloud inventory vendor Unleashed released a major update on Monday which added a dashboard interface, a powerful search engine and finer integration with cloud accounting program Xero.
Unleashed had added four developers to the three-developer team to carry out the overhaul which took 12 months, said Unleashed CEO Gareth Berry.
The update was intended to “unleash the data that people have captured within the system into intuitive, easy-to-use dashboards and reports so they can do a lot more than enter sales and purchases”, Berry said.
The most visible change was the addition of a dashboard which gave high-level information such as the amount of stock versus working capital, days of inventory, stock turns and cash flow.
“You can quickly assess whether you have too much money sitting on the shelves, or are you turning it fast enough. You can drill down in relevant areas to get the information behind the information so people can make smarter business decisions,” Berry said. “I don’t think there are any other tools that give those sort of metrics in the SME market” outside of NetSuite, a much more expensive cloud resource management program for enterprises.
Other major additions included a global search function. The previous version only allowed a separate searches on codes or descriptions when adding products to an invoice. The search function now included codes, descriptions, barcodes, supplier codes, supplier names and categories, Berry said.
One addition designed to improve the experience on mobile devices was a “mega-menu” that gave one-click access to every part of the system. Unleashed had added links to nearly all data including items within reports so users could view related information.
“Everything in the system you can basically click on and drill down for more information,” Berry said.
Fields in forms could be edited without leaving a screen through pop-up labels. A user wanting to add a new product to a purchase order could add it to the label, return to the purchase order and select the new product.
Unleashed had added a new just-in-time purchase ordering system that automatically created purchase orders for goods that were out of stock but had production or stock orders against them.
Xero users could choose whether to use the order date or the completed date when sending transactions from Unleashed to Xero.
Unleashed has 2000 customers, half of which also use Xero. Unleashed was also popular with e-commerce retailers who used the inventory program to batch process 200 to 2,000 invoices a day, a feature which Xero hasn’t yet added.
The major release was “just the beginning”, Berry said. The vendor was working towards its next release on 1 August which would add a configurable dashboard, a document designer for invoices and purchase orders, and a backordering module.
Unleashed planned to set up an office in the US’ Silicon Valley in July.
