- Accountants Office and Enterprise now connect to my.MYOB portal
- AO and AE users can import client files from AccountRight Live
- Reduces rekeying of data, allows real-time consulting
A key update to MYOB’s practice management software meant accountants could access data held in MYOB’s cloud accounting program for SMEs.
The latest Client Accounting module let accountants connect with clients’ online AccountRight Live data file without leaving their MYOB Accountants Office (AO) or Accountants Enterprise (AE) Practice Solution, the company said in a press release.
“From today, they no longer need to leave the interface they’re familiar with to work with clients in the cloud,” the release said.
The upgrade meant clients no longer had to send their data file on a USB or CD to their accountant. The accountant could log on and look at live information in the client’s data file at any time, and could spot client mistakes earlier.
The upgrade would reduce administration time because accountants would no longer need to rekey data from their client’s data file into the firm’s practice management system.
AE and AO Practice Solutions also connected to the my.MYOB portal which centralised login access for a firm’s employees to cloud-based client files in AccountRight Live.
The update gave accountants a common general ledger that “was a game changer” and would make them more efficient, Adam Ferguson, general manager, accountants division, said in the release.
“The time saved will increase their productivity and provide more time for accountants and their clients to focus on growing their respective businesses. The practice can spread the compliance workload more evenly, making it much easier to work more efficiently, drive revenue and deliver better, profitable services to clients,” Ferguson said.
Working with live information opened up new opportunities for accountants, Sean Devenish, principal of financial services firm Collins SBA , said in the press release. “We can see the industry adapt to the new role of the accountant – teaching clients to run good businesses using the live information, as opposed to just telling them what happened 12 months ago.”
