Seems like everything has to be connected to the cloud these days. Volvo announced last month that it would be installing cloud-based entertainment services in its vehicles using Ericsson’s Connected Vehicle Cloud solution.
Neither Volvo or Ericsson have revealed which cloud services will be added to the luxury European range but front-runners are navigation and entertainment applications.
Some reports have suggested the first cloud services would include Spotify, one of the most popular music streaming applications with 20 million users worldwide.
Connecting cars with the cloud services on your iPhones is just the first step. Volvo and other manufacturers are looking at vehicle-to-vehicle networks that will assist the development of autopilot modes for freeways and driverless vehicles.
