API for accounting and payroll software or in-house systems.
The online form lodgement service GovReports has released a software interface that can connect the SBR-based service to other applications such as accounting or payroll software.
Businesses with their own in-house systems could lodge forms directly to government agencies by integrating with the portal.
GovReports, launched in June last year by Impact Management Group, claimed it had the largest collection of SBR forms commercially available for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), State Revenue Offices and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
GovReports could save businesses the effort of learning about software taxonomies such as XBRL and software testing involved in building SBR compatibility with their own systems themselves.
“Users are excited about the prospects of what the SBR technology brings but don’t necessarily want to understand about complex reporting terminologies. We estimate that GovReports API would save six to twelve months of development costs on complex SBR forms,” said Tiana Tran, the marketing director of Impact Management Group.
“GovReports brings that ‘always on, use anytime’ facility to lodgements,” Tran said. Features included bulk lodgement and queuing.
