Accounting software company Reckon has promoted Sam Allert to the new position of managing director for Australia and New Zealand. Allert will oversee the accountant and business groups for Reckon and helm the renewed push for online accounting program Reckon One.
Reckon has finished the HTML5 version of Reckon One which was initially released on the Silverlight platform.
Journalists were given a sneak peak of the redesigned user interface this week at an expo held by Amazon Web Services, which hosts the online application.
Despite the delay in rewriting the application Allert said he was highly confident of the new release. “We are going out to market with the best user interface and the most affordable package in cloud accounting by a mile. We are one third our competitors,” Allert said.
The highly modular Reckon One costs $A5 a month for the most basic version. “Add in bank feeds, we are 96 per annum. Our two biggest competitors are both a minimum of $300 per annum,” Allert said.
The revamped Reckon One is due in May with an API to connect to other online programs and payroll to follow soon afterwards.
Pete Sanders, previously head of Reckon’s business division, has joined Wolters Kluwer (formerly CCH Australia) as head of the accountants division.
Strategic director Daniel Rabie will work alongside Allert and manage product development, technology and marketing.
