Popular online storage service Dropbox has responded to price cuts by Google and Microsoft with Dropbox Pro a new 1TB plan for just US$9.99. The same plan previously charged US$9.99 for 100GB, a tenth of the new capacity.
The price cut was buried at the end of a company post about new features for the same plan. Dropbox Pro users can restrict access to shared links by setting passwords or expiration deadlines which stop a link from operating after a set time.
A Dropbox Pro user can also set view-only permissions for shared folders.
A very handy feature, remote wipe, lets a user delete Dropbox files from a lost or stolen device without having to remove them from Dropbox. To remote wipe a device a Dropbox user unlinks it from Dropbox and checks a box to delete Dropbox files on that device the next time it connects to the internet.
