Xero has taken another stab at MYOB with the launch of free conversions from MYOB to Xero for accountants and bookkeepers in Australia who have signed up to the cloud accounting company’s partner program.
Xero announced at its recent roadshow that it was building an MYOB conversion tool into its “green Xero” partner portal. The service was available to all Xero partners, from Bronze up.
Queensland company Jet Convert was carrying out the conversions with a program that automatically exported the data from MYOB and imported it into Xero.
“We’re at a stage now where the complete conversion process is automated and doesn’t need any human input. We still have a team of people checking what we do to make absolutely sure we’ve got the highest quality conversions,” said Alexander Kohl, managing director at Jet Convert, in a video on Xero’s blog.
Jet Convert said the free automated service would only be available for a limited time. The conversion process took three days and moved across bank transactions, invoices, quotes, orders and credit notes. It also transferred payments, manual journals, payroll entries, contacts and payroll setup with complete employee information.
“Two years ago, we started to develop a tool that … creates the perfect mirrored image of the data in MYOB (so you can) use it in Xero,” Kohl said. “You can do a conversion and the client can continue with their work in Xero without stopping their business.”
