Accounting software company Xero released an Android version of its Xero Touch mobile app on Thursday through the Google Play app store. The app was based on the original version developed for iOS, it included the revised bank reconciliation screen released in October and a design suited to Android interfaces.
The new Xero Touch symbolised a switch in game plan for Xero. Yesterday’s release concluded the first phase of Xero’s change in strategy announced last year, said Matt Vickers, product manager of banking integration at Xero.
“We’ve now finished rebuilding our apps using native technology and with the release of our new Android app we are busy working on the next set of new features,” Vickers said.
The Android release narrowed the gap to the iOS version, however the latter would soon receive an upgrade with full support for Xero Files and a rebuilt expense claim screen.
