E-commerce program Bigcommerce has launched a new service for small and medium-sized retailers called Bigcommerce Next.
Merchants could launch an online store in under 30 minutes on the new platform which added 20 new features. One key feature was the addition of single click apps which could be bought from an integrated app store. The apps helped business owners add capabilities to their store via third party apps in a single click from within Bigcommerce.
Single click apps included the Zing Checkout point-of-sale app or JustUno social incentives app.
“Think of it as iTunes for commerce. What Salesforce did for CRM and Facebook did for social media, we’re doing for commerce,” said Mitchell Harper, co-founder and co-CEO of Bigcommerce.
Other new features included a step-by-step marketing wizard called Traffic Engine which taught merchants how to drive demand to their stores and Bigcommerce University, a comprehensive video-based learning experience that taught merchants how to sell more using Bigcommerce and online marketing.
Also included were a blogging tool, a one click integration with Stripe for fast payments and a Google Trusted stores integration to increase conversion rate for shoppers.
“We really wanted to figure out how do we launch a true commerce platform that enabled retailers, regardless of what they sell to take full advantage of Bigcommerce,” added Harper.
Bigcommerce was founded in 2009 for small to medium businesses who could launch online stores, have built-in e-commerce and marketing capabilities.
